On being an amateur
I've recently become an amateur in the wonderful world of youtube. And I've come to realise that I should be one more often.
I posted my second ever YouTube video over the weekend! And I'd say I'm still pretty bad at it. 🤷🏼♀️
But here's what I've come to learn:
→ Being a beginner is delightfully uncomfortable
→ No one's watching (yet), and that's oddly freeing
→ Creating just for myself is much more fulfilling
Putting yourself out there when you're not an expert is scary. 🤩 But it's also exhilarating.
✅ Zero pressure: When no one's watching, you can experiment freely
✅ Pure creativity: Making content just because it's fun is priceless
✅ Rapid growth: The learning curve from video 1 to 2 is STEEEP but rewarding
Remember, every expert was once an amateur.
My favourite YouTubers started with zero subscribers too.
My favourite band once played to nobody but their family and friends.
My favourite comedian once got no laughs.
So don't forget to embrace awkward beginning stages, create for the sheer joy of it - and rediscover the fun in learning something new.
Oh, and my new youtube video is here :)
